The close-off date for tickets to our “Christmas in July Dinner/Dance” is quickly approaching, and all monies must be received by The North Lakes Lions Club by next Monday the 14th July 2008, so we can give the final numbers to our caterer.
People still interested in purchasing tickets to this function need to contact me Chris Doyle, immediately on 0429-457722 or
chrisdoyle@aapt.net.au to arrange payment, and to pick up their tickets. Please note there will be NO ticket sales on the night.
The word is finally out to the resident’s and the local business community that this great night of fine wine, food, entertainment and company is being staged in our town by your own North Lakes Lions Club, and the final details are being addressed to make sure that this night will be the total success we all know it will be.
Initially ticket sales were slow, however the momentum has now picked up and I’m happy to report that we only have 56 seats left to sell, and we’ll be full.
At this stage of the proceedings I’d like to thank all the members of our community who have already shown their support for what The Lions Club does for the community by purchasing their tickets early, and I’d like to further encourage others who may still be contemplating coming, to make the call now and arrange their tickets.
As I’ve said in previous articles, all the proceeds of this Christmas in July Dinner/ Dance will be channeled into The Lions Medical Research and Sight First 2 projects, plus several other local Lions Club Charities. I can’t emphasise enough the importance of your support towards these much needed charities, and the great service they provide to us all.
It would be quite remiss of me if I didn’t mention that this entire project could not have been achieved without the help and guidance of the Entertainment Committee, and indeed all of our members of The North Lakes Lions Club. I would like to formally thank each and every one of you for your contribution to making our Christmas in July Dinner/Dance idea into a really worthwhile reality.
It may have appeared over the past few months that we have been only focussed on the one project, not so. The Lions Club has been out into the community again last weekend being proactive selling raffle tickets at the Farmers Market held in the park on the shores of Lake Eden. This is a great idea for our community to obtain even more fantastic fresh produce than we already enjoy here, and an excuse for a healthy walk around this wonderful setting. I’m told that the Farmers Market will be a regular occurrence here, so please make sure you take advantage of it.
Special thanks are extended to Bronwyn Porter from Stockland for her fantastic effort on the weekend. Bronwyn was caught on camera drawing a lucky ticket from the raffle barrel, and you’ll also note our members hard at work whilst the public is checking out the produce on display.
Ranted on a bit this week, lots to talk about.
Please come and meet all the members of your Lions Club at the Christmas in July Dinner/ Dance on the 19th of July, and I’ll be talking to you.
Until next time,
Chris.
